Spacecraft Internal Shielding and Dose Analysis Software

The total dose effect of components caused by the space radiation environment is an important factor which resreicts the lifetime of aerospace products in orbit. The internal structure of spacecraft is quite complicated, and in order to evaluate the internal components’ shielding thickness distribution and radiation dose of the spacecraft, it is necessary to launch the three-dimensional simulation. Three dimensional analysis can give the mutual shielding contribution the internal different equipment of the spacecraft and thus obtain the shield thickness and radiation dose of the components in different direction different from the one-dimensional calculation. This software has developed independently a new method for the evaluation of three-dimensional shielding and radiation dose in the spacecraft with combination of the finite element theory and the ProE engineering software. The test results of the typical geometric model indicate that the calculation method of the three dimensional shielding and radiation dose based on ProE is accurate, reliable and efficient. Compared with the analytical methods of the calculation of the three- dimensional shielding and radiation dose based on the Monte Carlo overseas, this software is no longer needs the conversion modeling of the extremely complicated spacecraft ProE drawings, and thus more applicable for engineering use. This software has been used and tested in many domestic missions, and is a useful tool for the optimization design of the radiation shielding.
